Birthday Weekend
For our birthdays, Lauren and I decided to have a bunch of family and friends over before the CU v. Texas game. In attendance were Dave and Chris from Chicago, Mom, Mike and Beth, Erik and Elizabeth, Aubrey and Kelly, Kate and Clancy, Matt Trombley, his Dad and Matt and many others. It was a great birthday weekend, with the exception of CU getting blown out by Texas. Thanks to everyone for bringing food, drinks and fun. A great birthday!!Thursday, October 16, 2008

Summertime Barbecue
We had a little barbecue a few weekends back. Some of Lauren's friends from San Francisco were in town, and Matt + Vicki came up from Denver. Matt helped me out building a stone wall at the house (2+ tons of flagstone!) then we indulged in some drinks and burgers. Hadley was hanging out (of course..) but no drinks, burgers or stone wall building for her.

Lobster Cook-Out
Lauren, Hadley and I just got back from an excellent trip out east to Shelter Island. Not only did we get to spend some great time with Jim and Diane, but a number of our close friends as well. Kelly and Mo came out with us for the fourth of July. After a greuling day of travel for myself that included rides in a van, a plane, 2 trains and a taxi, I met Kelly and Mo in NYC and we took a bus out towards Shelter Island to catch the ferry. I feel like I should've squeezed in a ride in a helicopter or a submarine to round out the day of travel! On the 4th, we met up with the Trombley clan and Jenny for a classic lobster cook-out. Weather out east wasn't great for the weekend, but we had a beautiful night. Everyone met up at the beach for good food, good drinks and great friends. Hadley had a blast on her 1st 4th of July celebration! Included in this post are a few photos. What a great time...

Pics from Grammy Sue's visit

Mom came up last night for dinner and to visit Hadley. She cooked us a great meal and took some even better photos. Lauren, Hadley and I just got back from vacation out east. We'll be posting some photos soon.
We're still working a lot on the new house - with so much more to do. We are hoping to finish our family room soon and get our new couch and TV. The yard is also a current work in progress but is looking better everyday. The hot, hot heat has dried some of it out but most of it is doing pretty well.

Bolder Boulder
Lauren, Hadley and I set out on our first Bolder Boulder this Memorial Day weekend. For those not familiar, the Bolder Boulder is the bigest 10K footrace in the country. This race is comprised of over 50,000 attendees. Racers run 10 kilometers from under 30 minutes to over an hour and a half. We were leaning towards the slower pace.

Our good friend (and godfather to Hadley) Erik Anderson dropped us off at the starting line at a very early 730AM. We started out with spirits high. So many people, so much to see! In addition to so many events, there are over 18 bands playing music to entertain folks along the way. Included in the line-up were: Blues Brothers impersonators, belly dancers, 14-year old punk rockers and Elvis. Quite the variety. Our plan was to walk the race, as most who sign up for the race do. Upon completion of the race, which finishes with a lap through the CU stadium at Folsom Field, our plan was to walk back to our new house on Univesity Hill.
The race (walk) was so much fun, for a while. We got about 2/3 of the way through the race, and the rain began to fall. Neither myself, Lauren or Hadley were enjoying ourselves at this point, and we decided to 'pull the chute'. At this point, we were quite close to our house (the race goes through the streets of Boulder) so we decided to walk back home. All in all, a great way to start the Memorial Day holiday, even if we did not finish the race. We got back home and had a relaxing day of yard work and an evening barbecue. Here are some photos.

Visit from Grampa Lew and Peg
Dad and Peg came out for a visit in April. They got some great photos which are shown below. We had some great weather and we all got to do some great walks and eat some good food. Hadley was thrilled to meet her Grampa Lew. Grampa Lew was pretty thrilled to meet his 1st grandchild. All in all an excellent weekend!

.Hadley rolled over for the first time when Dad and Peg were in town. The middle three pictures here show a great time series of the event. Good job, little miss.

Easter Photos

Hadley, Lauren and I went down to Aunt Anne's for Easter weekend. Hadley got a chance to meet her great-grandmother Poagie! It was very cool to get 4 generations together in the same room. Hadley is beginning to learn to hold her head up, maintain eye contact, smile and recognize faces, and drive a car (not really...). She just turned 3 monthes old yesterday and has changed so much from when we brought her home. Sometimes it looks like she is going to roll over or begin to crawl, but nothing as of yet. She has indicated that she is very excited about the upcoming spring weather and hopes it isn't too rainy this year so she can get in some spring skiing.
