Bolder Boulder

Lauren, Hadley and I set out on our first Bolder Boulder this Memorial Day weekend. For those not familiar, the Bolder Boulder is the bigest 10K footrace in the country. This race is comprised of over 50,000 attendees. Racers run 10 kilometers from under 30 minutes to over an hour and a half. We were leaning towards the slower pace.

Our good friend (and godfather to Hadley) Erik Anderson dropped us off at the starting line at a very early 730AM. We started out with spirits high. So many people, so much to see! In addition to so many events, there are over 18 bands playing music to entertain folks along the way. Included in the line-up were: Blues Brothers impersonators, belly dancers, 14-year old punk rockers and Elvis. Quite the variety. Our plan was to walk the race, as most who sign up for the race do. Upon completion of the race, which finishes with a lap through the CU stadium at Folsom Field, our plan was to walk back to our new house on Univesity Hill.

The race (walk) was so much fun, for a while. We got about 2/3 of the way through the race, and the rain began to fall. Neither myself, Lauren or Hadley were enjoying ourselves at this point, and we decided to 'pull the chute'. At this point, we were quite close to our house (the race goes through the streets of Boulder) so we decided to walk back home. All in all, a great way to start the Memorial Day holiday, even if we did not finish the race. We got back home and had a relaxing day of yard work and an evening barbecue. Here are some photos.

Visit from Grampa Lew and Peg

Dad and Peg came out for a visit in April. They got some great photos which are shown below. We had some great weather and we all got to do some great walks and eat some good food. Hadley was thrilled to meet her Grampa Lew. Grampa Lew was pretty thrilled to meet his 1st grandchild. All in all an excellent weekend!

.Hadley rolled over for the first time when Dad and Peg were in town. The middle three pictures here show a great time series of the event. Good job, little miss.
