I got back from my business trip to see that Lauren and Hadley had been well taken care of by Hadley's Grandmothers. Both Susan and Diane took turns coming to Lauren's aid while I was out in Washington DC. Diane came in for 3 nights and Mom came up for a night so Lauren had some assitance the entire week. I found it VERY difficult to be away from the family for the first time, so it was great to know that everyone was in good hands. I am sure these things will get easier with time but itis no fun to be away from Lauren and Hadley! Diane took some great photos while she was in town and they are attached below.

Sleepy Sunday
Hadley has had a good week. She had a doctor's visit and she gained a whole pound in a week. That might not sound like much, but it is about 10% of her body weight. For those of us over 100 lbs (a category I most certianly fall in...) that means gaining over 10 pounds in a week! Doctors say it is a sign that she is feeding well and is a healthy baby. She has gotten into a good routine of sleeping through most of the night, with only one feeding time around 230/300 AM. Lauren has been doing a great job of tending to this late-night need and is proving to be an excellent mother for little miss. Hadley tends to get a bit mad in the evening (coincidently right about the time Dad gets home) and crys usually for about 2 hours. We have developed a few tricks and techniques for trying to callm her down whcih have varying degrees of success based on some unknown factor. From what all of our books and from what our doctors say, this is totally normal and tends to peak around 6-7 weeks of age (which is her current age). We are thinking this might subside in the weeks to come.

Hadley has achieved one of her first developmental milestones. Quite often, when we look over the edge of her bassinet, she looks right back at us. Not over our shoulder or in our direction, rather directly into our eyes. It is starting to feel like she knows who we are - and is happy to see us. We are even starting to see what certianly appear to be genuine smiles! We like to think this is because she is happy her parents are nearby and not just because she happens to be passing gas...
I am off tomorrow on my first business trip since Hadley's arrival. Fortunately, Hadley's grandmother (Diane) will be coming out to Boulder to assist. Perhaps next weekend we'll have some photos from the visit!
Hadley and Lauren had some down time this afternoon and I got some great photos of them relaxing in bed. Enjoy.

Too Long
It's been too long since my last post! Our internet has been on the fritz but I believe the issue has been resolved. A lot has been going on since the last post! But really nothing has changed. Mom, Dad and Baby are still happy and healthy. Hadley has been having some trouble at times sleeping through the night and we are wondering if we may be encountering collic. At about 8/9 PM she gets pretty mad and lets us know about it for 3-4 hours. The doctors have reccomended Lauren cut caffiene out of her diet, which seems to have helped a bit. Some nights are better than others. Last night was very good so we are hoping to have a full day today. Family brunch down in Boulder, then a trip to the Highlands (NW Denver neighborhood and potential new home for the fam) to look at houses.
That's really it for now. I have some included below from miscellaneaous events.
